Miffy (Dutch: Nijntje, pronounced [ˈnɛiɲcə]) is a small female rabbit in a series of picture books drawn and written by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. The original Dutch name, "Nijntje", is a shortening of the diminutive konijntje, "little rabbit".
Miffy is an iconic character in my hometown, Utrecht. The Author, Dick Bruna has lived here all his life and so Utrecht became the home of Miffy as well. We have traffic lights with Miffy on them. Statues, shops, squares and even a whole museum all dedicated to Miffy.
I loved Miffy as a child and i can still apreciate it as an adult. the design is so simple and clear. I also can't help but be fascinated by the drama that many people presume Hello Kitty stole Miffy's design.
